WELCOME TO THE INSTITUTE OF MARITIME AND SAFETY, NIGERIA
On behalf of the Governing Council, Staff and Students of this great Institute, It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Institute of Maritime and Safety, Nigeria. The Federal Government of Nigeria paved the way for the establishment of Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VIEs) and Innovation Enterprise Institutions (IEIs) in 2015 to provide a veritable alternative route to higher education in the country.
These institutions are products of reforms initiatives of the Federal Ministry of Education (FME). By nature, they are private oriented, meant to offer vocational, technical technology or professional education and training at post-basic and tertiary levels, to equip secondary school leavers and working adults with vocational skills and knowledge to meet the increasing demand for technical manpower by the various sectors of the nation’s economy. The institutions are also approved. We took this bold step to become an Innovative Enterprise Institution for the purpose of maritime, technological and financial development of our great country because we believe in backward integration.
Our motto, which is “Technology Advancement is the Key for National Development” will serve as a base for our philosophy – “To foster technical academic excellence aimed at producing a self-sufficient, practice oriented individual in a highly stimulating environment devoid of discrimination in the global village which the world has turned into”
