The Institute of Maritime and Safety, offers programs at the National Innovation Diploma (NID).
The Institution has the following Departments:
1. Computer Hardware Engineering Technology
2. Marine Engineering
3. Security Management & Technology
4. Welding and Fabrication
5. Shipping Management
6. Banking Operations
Students of the National Innovation Diploma (NID) shall take prescribed courses in various disciplines for four (4) semesters.
However, the National Innovation Diploma (NID) students shall undertake three months practical training under the Students Industrial Work Experience Schemes (SIWES), where applicable.
On passing the prescribed examinations and after successfully completing the programs, such student will be awarded the appropriate National Diploma
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION.
The Institute of Maritime and Safety is open to all applicants irrespective of race, sex, religion or political persuasion. However, the Institute operates on admission policy that takes cognizance of the prevailing NBTE (National Board for Technical Education) guidelines Candidates should not be less than 16 years of age at the time of admission into the Institute. General conditions for each program are as follows.
NATIONAL INNOVATION DIPLOMA (NID)
In addition to passing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examinations, candidates must satisfy the minimum entry requirements of the Institute which shall be at least one of the following:
1. The possession of at least five relevant credits at not more than two sittings in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE),National Examination Council (NECO) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O-Level Examination.
2. Any other comparable qualification which the Academic Board may consider appropriate

i Good SSSCE, Ex WASC, NECO, GCE and NABTEB
ii Mariners with Certificate of Competency and Engineering Graduates
iii Mature applicants With Prove of more than 7 years experience in Shipping, Engineering, Oil and Gas Industries are eligible to apply.
